READING LOG ASSIGNMENTS

READING LOG #1                                                      Date: Friday September 5, 2013

DIRECTIONS: Answer the four questions in a 40-50 word complete and correct paragraph. If you are re-reading the book, and know what will happen, skip the last question.

1. WHAT IS THE TITLE OF YOUR BOOK AND THE AUTHORS NAME?

2. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS BOOK?

3. WRITE A SUMMARY ABOUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED SO FAR IN YOUR BOOK.

4. WHAT DO YOU PREDICT WILL HAPPEN IN BOOK?

READING LOG #2                                                      Date: Friday September 12th, 2014

DIRECTIONS: Choose to complete either option 1 or option 2 for your second reading log.

OPTION 1: Write a dialogue between you and a character in your book or the author. The dialogue must have at least 6-8 lines and include the two different speakers. You may want to ask the author or a character a question or several questions that results in an interview like dialogue.

OPTION 2: Write a 30-40 word Facebook Post or Tweet that your character would write. Write it as if you are the character. Think of the situation they are in; what would they say about it? Who are they interacting with? What choices do they need to make? What are they happy or sad about? Remember, write it as if you are the character.

READING LOG #3                                                      Date: Friday September 26th, 2014

DIRECTIONS: Write a PLOT-TWIST in the story of your book by changing the action or reaction(s) of a character or many characters.

1. First, write a SUMMARY of what originally happens in the book first.
2. Second, write the plot-twist or the CHANGE in the story.
3. Lastly, tell me WHY you made this plot-twist.

READING LOG #4                                                      Date: Friday September 26th, 2014

DIRECTIONS: Fill out the Compare and Contrast Chart Graphic Organizer for YOU and a CHARACTER from your book. I want you to think of how you are SIMILAR TO or LIKE the character and how you are DIFFERENT from the character.
